Drosera spatulata is a carnivorous plant from South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The species is characterized by a large intraspecific variability, so it is possible to find many different forms, even in cultivation. The one I sell is particularly durable and adapts well to many conditions. If cultivated outside with many hours of direct light it becomes red, forming compact plants (3-4cm). In shady conditions, it produces very large plants (even 6 cm in diameter) while maintaining a pink color on the tentacles. In terrarium it grows lush though remaining small in size.
During my experience with this plant, I have seen some difficulties only at very high temperatures (over 40 °) with little air circulation, for the rest, even in winter, it maintains vitality if the temperature is higher than 10 °.
It can also give 4 blooms a year and the flowers are capable of self-fecundation.
It adapts well to many types of substrate, provided that it is not exclusively provided with rainwater or demineralized water. It is a simple plant, suitable for beginners, but it can also give great satisfaction to the most experienced growers.
The seeds I sell were conserved according to the standards for germoplasm conservation, under low humidity and temperature (as in FAO / IPGRI 1994), so they are fresh and with a high germinability rate (however higher for the latest seeds). They do not have dormancy, so they can be planted without any special arrangements.
The first seedlings will be born within 3 weeks and, if cultivated well, they will mature within 3-4 months. Drosera spatulata is a perennial plant, so if you treat it well, plants that are born will remain lush for years. The seeds will be sent in sachets containing at least the number of seeds indicated in the menu of choice.
