The Sphagnum papillosum is the third major component of the sub-generic section to which also belong the Sphagnum magellanicum and the Sphagnum palustre. In fact, like these, is characterized by very large and robust plants with high hydrophilic capacity. However, this species is better suited than the other to survive in conditions of limited humidity (never complete dryness), thanks to special adjustments of the cells’ wall. The size is slightly smaller than the Sphagnum magellanicum, and the plants have a softer structure (but less than the S. palustre). It requires reduced brightness and frequent water changes.

The clones I sell are:

Sphagnum papillosum P21 - Connemara (IRE) Location 1

Sphagnum papillosum P22 - Connemara (IRE) Location 2

In this blog you can find the identification card of the species, with the original images obtained by the microscopic analysis of the samples taken from the same plants you can buy here.

Notice: The identification of the sphagnum species of this site is not 100% certain, because it has not yet been possible to make genetic analysis, but only morphological. For this reason, the identification of some species may be subject to changes due to new and more accurate analysis. When the identification of an already distributed clone is changed, the species name is changed, but the clone code remains the original one. For this reason, it is important to keep a record of the clone codes in your collection.
