The Sphagnum cuspidatum is a very special species. Its leaves are very thin, like little needles, giving the plant a "pointy" look. This characteristic is due to an adaptation to aquatic growth. When it is immersed in water, the leaves open in all directions and give the plant an very similar appearance to that of a typical water plant. It can grow completely submerged during the whole year, forming heads “cushions” that emerge from the surface. This species is extremely resistant and invasive, but at the same time it does not form very voluminous “cushions”. For this reason it is especially suitable for growing small slow-growth plants (Drosera, Pinguicula, Utricularia, Seedlings).

Notice: The identification of the sphagnum species of this site is not 100% certain, because it has not yet been possible to make genetic analysis, but only morphological. For this reason, the identification of some species may be subject to changes due to new and more accurate analysis. When the identification of an already distributed clone is changed, the species name is changed, but the clone code remains the original one. For this reason, it is important to keep a record of the clone codes in your collection.
